Technology at Inspiration Academy
Inspiration Academy provides technology resources to its students for educational purposes, ensuring access to a wealth of resources from around the world. Through the use of technology, students and staff can extend learning beyond the classroom, opening up incredible opportunities for enhancing and rethinking the learning process. Our goal is to promote educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, fostering innovation, and improving communication, all with the support and guidance of parents, teachers, and staff.
Opportunities and Risks of Technology Use
With access to computers and global communication, there is a potential for exposure to material that may not align with the educational goals of the Academy or may be harmful. Because the information available on networks is vast and constantly changing, the Academy cannot fully control or predict what content users may encounter. However, the Florida Department of Education recognizes that the educational value of providing limited access to technology for research, interaction, and learning outweighs the possibility that users might come across materials that are not in line with the Academy’s mission.
In accordance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act, the Academy installs filtering software to restrict access to inappropriate content, including material that is obscene, pornographic, harmful to children, or disruptive to the educational process. However, it is important to note that no filtering software is perfect, and there may be instances where it fails to block harmful or inappropriate content. Despite this, users are still expected to adhere to the Academy’s policies and refrain from accessing such material.
Limitations and Responsibilities
Technology, while a powerful tool for learning, is not foolproof and must be used responsibly. Inspiration Academy is not liable for:
- Any loss or damage to information due to technical difficulties or other issues
- The accuracy or appropriateness of information retrieved through technology
- Breaches of confidentiality
- Defamatory content
- The consequences resulting from failure to follow Academy policies and procedures
By using the provided technology resources, students and staff are expected to act responsibly and ethically, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for all.
Acceptable Technology Use Policy
All Inspiration Academy students and parents are required to agree to and sign the “Acceptable Technology Use Policy” at the beginning of each year. A link to this document can be found below. Please review this policy with your student, sign, and return to the Inspiration Academy Office.
To ensure a smooth learning experience and reliable performance during online assessments (including NWEA MAP testing) and daily use of Microsoft 365, all student devices must meet the following minimum specifications.
Students may use Windows or Apple Mac laptops. Tablets (including iPads) and Chromebooks are not recommended.

- Intel Core i3 13th Gen (Intel i5 14th Gen or newer recommended) • 8 GB RAM (16 GB Recommended)
- Windows 11 (no S-Mode, students must be able to install applications) • 256-512 GB Hard Disk Drive

- M1 Processor (M2 or newer is recommended)

Important Notes
– Devices should be fully updated prior to the start of school
– Students are responsible for bringing a laptop and charger each day – Students must be able to install and run required testing software. If using a Windows laptop, ensure that the device is not in S-Mode
– Devices that do not meet these requirements may experience performance issues
